Pectin is a natural product which can be found in the cell wall of all higher plants. The universally used jellifying, thickening and stabilizing agent which nowadays is an indispensable component of a great variety of products in either the food industry, where it is used in the production of jams, confectionery articles, baked and dairy products or in the non-food industry, such as in cosmetics and pharmaceutics, where pectin has in recent years gained increasingly in importance. The benefits of a natural ingredient are also more and more appreciated by the consumer, in fact, the trend towards natural products and natural components continues unhindered. In a technologically sophisticated process pectin is produced from plant raw material containing a high natural pectin content, such as apple, citrus or beet pomace. Various amounts of pectin can be extracted from different raw materials. These pectin extracts are then specifically processed in various processes in order to receive a number of different types of pectin with specific properties. Which pectin or type of pectin will finally be used by our customer depends largely on the specific criteria to be met by the finished product. |
